Montebello Schools by the Numbers: The Three Campuses Zoned to 1100 Uptown Park Boulevard

Updated September 2026

Which schools is a home at Montebello zoned to, and what did the state publish for those campuses in 2026?

Houston ISD's own maps for the 2026 to 2027 school year put this building in three attendance zones, Briargrove Elementary, Tanglewood Middle School and Wisdom High School, and the preliminary letters the state gave those campuses in August 2026 can still change when the agency publishes final ones on 11 December 2026.

Which campuses does Houston ISD's own map put this building in?

Houston ISD publishes an attendance-zone map for each of the three levels, and all three name the 2026 to 2027 school year. The street address here, 1100 Uptown Park Boulevard, was turned into a point by the Census Bureau's address geocoder on 18 September 2026, and that point was tested against each of the three maps. It falls inside exactly one zone on every one of them.

The zone records carry each campus's own street address and the grades it takes from that zone. Briargrove Elementary is at 6145 San Felipe St, and its zone runs from the district's earliest grades through grade 5. Tanglewood Middle School is at 5215 San Felipe, zoned for grades 6, 7 and 8. Wisdom High School is at 6529 Beverly Hill Ln, zoned for grades 9 through 12.

Beside those three the district publishes a feeder map that prints the whole chain as one string. For this point it reads "Briargrove ES ➔ Tanglewood MS ➔ Wisdom HS", which is the answer the three zone maps give one level at a time. Two of the district's own maps saying the same thing is a stronger record than either alone.

One of those names is already on this site doing a different job. The guide to selling at Montebello gives the market area for this address as Tanglewood, out of the operator's building record. Tanglewood Middle School is a Houston ISD campus on San Felipe, and a market area drawn by the people who sell houses says nothing about where the district drew a zone.

What did the state and the national nonprofit publish for these three campuses?

Two bodies publish a figure for a campus here, and they measure different things. The Texas Education Agency issues one overall A to F letter for a district and one for each campus it rates, and a fresh set is published every year, so a letter is a reading of a single year. Its own page on how those letters are decided, read on 18 September 2026, puts them on three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps.

What a campus letter measures is set out on that same page in two sentences, and the second one names what the agency expects a campus to prepare a student for after they leave it.

The second figure is a number out of 10 from a national nonprofit, published on a profile it keeps for each campus. The three profiles behind the table are Briargrove Elementary's, Tanglewood Middle's and Wisdom High's, each read on 18 September 2026, and each of the three carries the same date of its own, 29 May 2026.

Houston ISD's own line in the state's 2026 statewide multi-year ratings spreadsheet carries a B for the district. The three campus rows below come out of that file too, and nothing else in it was taken: the sheet also holds enrolment, economic and language columns, a score behind every letter, and distinction designations, and none of those is printed here.

The table lists the three campuses in alphabetical order rather than by either figure. Read a row as two dated readings of one campus, each printed the way the body that published it printed it.

This measures, for each individual school, what students are learning in each grade and whether or not they are ready for the next grade. It also shows how well a school prepares their students for success after high school in college, the workforce, or the military.

What can still change about the 2026 letters?

They are preliminary until December. The agency's own appeals timeline for 2026 puts the preliminary release on 12 August 2026, opens the appeals window the same day and closes it at 5pm on 11 September 2026. It sets the final release for 11 December 2026, when, in the timeline's own words, "The outcomes of all appeals are reflected in the final ratings and year counts update."

The same page attaches a standing condition to every figure in that file: ratings and year counts "are subject to change due to the results of an audit, compliance review, or investigation". A letter in the table is therefore evidence of what the agency published on a day, and not a promise about the school year ahead.

No National Blue Ribbon award sits beside those figures, and that is a finding rather than an omission. The program's cumulative list of schools recognized from 1982 through 2019 names none of the three, and neither does any cohort list it has published since, through its 2024 awardees. The links go to the Internet Archive's copies of those lists, read on 18 September 2026.

Why does the high school have two names?

Because it was renamed and not every publisher has caught up. The high school map prints the campus as Wisdom High School and records its former name as Lee HS. The state's 2026 ratings file prints WISDOM H S, and so does the state's own school directory, which lists the campus as active at the same address on Beverly Hill Ln.

GreatSchools has not made that change. Its profile for that campus, read on 18 September 2026, is titled Lee High School and sits at a web address carrying the same name, so a reader following the link above lands on a page with the old name at the top of it. The figure on that page belongs to the campus Houston ISD calls Wisdom High School.

The middle school has the same history with a shorter tail. The district records Tanglewood Middle School's former name as Grady MS, and the nonprofit's web address for that campus still carries Grady while the page it opens reads Tanglewood Middle.

How does the district settle which campus an address is zoned to, and who applies?

The maps above are what Houston ISD publishes. The answer for one address is the district's own, and it comes from a tool: houstonisd.org/schoolfinder redirects to School Navigator, which serves an application that runs in a browser. Run the home's own address through it for the district's answer, and ask for the same answer in writing.

A zone is not the only way into a campus. Houston ISD calls itself an open-enrollment district of choice, and its School Choice process takes one application for campuses beyond the zoned one. Its eligibility page carries two conditions worth reading before anybody counts on a place: some programs set an entrance requirement, and priority status gives an eligible application a higher ranking in the lottery.

None of these three campuses carries a magnet program. Each zone record marks its campus as not a magnet, and the district's own magnet page, read on 18 September 2026, lists the campuses that offer magnet programming by program and marks each one as one of three types. Briargrove, Tanglewood and Wisdom are in none of those tables, so the conditions that page attaches to a magnet campus, the ones that make a student apply among them, attach to none of these.

One field on the district's elementary map is worth naming because it is empty here. It holds notes, and where it is filled it can give the students of one zone a choice between two campuses. The note it carries for this school year belongs to zones elsewhere in Houston, and the record for the zone holding this building has nothing in it.

What should you put to the district in writing before an offer?

Ask for the address rather than the building. Montebello is one street address with 98 homes behind it, and the district answers for an address, so name the street address and the unit number, name the school year, and ask for the zoned campus at all three levels.

Two more questions belong in the same message: when the district last reviewed the answer for that address, and whether a boundary change is under consideration for the school year the buyer is asking about.

Keep the reply. A written answer from the district sits on the file beside the home's resale certificate, the recorded declaration and the management certificate, and it settles in one line a question that otherwise gets answered from memory at a showing.

An owner can do all of this before the first showing. The question comes up on a file like this one, and an owner holding the district's answer is not sending a buyer off to find it while the option period, the short window in a Texas contract when a buyer can walk away, is running.

What can this page not tell you?

Which campus a particular home here is zoned to, in Houston ISD's own words. What is on this page is the map the district publishes, and the answer for one address is the district's own.

Whether these zones hold. The maps above are the ones for 2026 to 2027, which is the school year the district names on them, and it still serves earlier years beside them.

How accurate the district considers its own maps. Houston ISD attaches no accuracy statement, licence or disclaimer to any of the three zone maps or to the feeder map, so the district's written reply for an address is the answer to rely on.

Anything about who attends a campus, or how one did on a test. Enrolment, economic and language shares, scores, the letters behind each domain and distinction designations all sit in the publishers' own files, and none of them is printed here.

Which of the three a reader should prefer. This page prints a figure, the body that published it and the year, and nothing that sets one campus against another.

Whether a place at a campus beyond the zoned one will be granted. The district decides that inside its own process and its own deadlines, and a purchase that leans on it leans on something nobody has granted yet.

Questions & answers

Montebello questions, answered

Which schools is a home at Montebello zoned to?

Houston ISD's attendance-zone maps for the 2026 to 2027 school year put 1100 Uptown Park Boulevard in three zones: Briargrove Elementary, Tanglewood Middle School and Wisdom High School. The district's separate feeder map prints the same chain for that point. Those maps are what the district publishes, and the answer for one home is still the answer Houston ISD gives for its own address.

Each zone record carries the campus's address and the grades it takes from that zone: Briargrove on San Felipe from the earliest grades it takes through grade 5, Tanglewood on San Felipe for grades 6 to 8, and Wisdom on Beverly Hill Lane for grades 9 to 12. The district publishes a fresh set of maps each school year, so an answer from an earlier year is a record of that year rather than of this one. Before an offer, ask the district in writing for the campus at all three levels, with the street address and the unit number named, and keep the written reply on the file.

Are the state's 2026 letters for Houston ISD campuses final?

Not yet. The Texas Education Agency released the 2026 preliminary letters on 12 August 2026 and opened its appeals window the same day, closing it at 5pm on 11 September 2026. The final release is set for 11 December 2026, and the agency also says a figure can move after that on the result of an audit, a compliance review or an investigation.

What that means in practice is that a letter is dated evidence rather than a description of a school year. The agency issues a new set every year and keeps the earlier years in the same file, so two people quoting different years are both right and are not talking about the same thing. Anybody relying on one should say which year it is, and check the agency's own site after 11 December 2026 rather than carrying the preliminary figure forward.

How do I find out which Houston ISD campus my address is zoned to?

Houston ISD answers for an address through School Navigator, the tool that houstonisd.org/schoolfinder redirects to. It runs in a browser, so a person can use it and an automated reader cannot. Put in the exact street address, then ask the district in writing to confirm the campus at all three levels for the school year you care about.

The written confirmation is the part worth keeping. A tool answers the question the day you ask it, and a zone can change between school years, so a reply that names the address, the year and the three campuses is a record somebody can rely on months later. In a condominium, name the unit number as well as the street address, because one street address can hold many homes. Ask at the same time when the district last reviewed the answer, and whether a boundary change is under consideration for that year.

Why is Wisdom High School listed under a different name on some sites?

Because the campus was renamed and not every publisher has followed. Houston ISD prints Wisdom High School on its own high school map and records the former name as Lee HS, and the state prints Wisdom in both its ratings file and its school directory. One national nonprofit still titles its profile for the campus Lee High School.

A reader following a link to that profile lands on a page with the old name at the top of it, which is worth knowing before anybody decides the link is broken or the figure belongs to another school. The middle school has a milder version of the same thing: the district records the former name Grady MS, the profile page carries the current name, and only the web address still says Grady. Where two publishers disagree about a name, the district is the one that names its own campuses.

Can a student at Montebello apply to a Houston ISD campus other than the zoned one?

Yes. Houston ISD calls itself an open-enrollment district of choice and runs a School Choice process that takes one application for campuses beyond the zoned one. Two conditions come with it: some programs set an entrance requirement, and priority status gives an eligible application a higher ranking in the lottery the district runs.

None of the three campuses zoned to this building carries a magnet program, so nobody has to apply for a seat the zone already gives them. That is worth separating from the question above it, because at some Houston ISD campuses the two are tangled: the district files its magnet campuses under three types, and at one of them no student is zoned to the campus at all. A purchase that depends on a place at a campus outside the zone depends on a decision the district has not made yet, and the district makes it inside its own application window.

What should I have ready about schools before I list at Montebello?

The district's own written answer for your address, at all three levels, for the school year a buyer will ask about. Montebello is one street address with 98 homes behind it and Houston ISD answers for an address, so ask with the unit number named, and keep the reply with the resale certificate and the recorded documents.

The question comes up on almost every file here, and the difference between having the answer and sending a buyer off to find it shows up in the first week of a contract. It costs one message. Ask for the campus at each level, the school year it applies to, the date the district last reviewed it, and whether a boundary change is under consideration. Nothing about a rating belongs in that message: what a seller needs is the campus the district names for the address, in writing, with a date on it.
